Celebrate new trails, connect with Community

Join us as we introduce The Dark Forest and Ancient Oaks trail systems with an afternoon and evening of riding, running, live music, food, family activities, and campfire fun. Whether you're an experienced trail user or exploring the trails for the first time, this event is about connecting with the outdoors and with one another.

Together, we're celebrating a place where adventure, stewardship, and community come together. We're building a lasting trail culture in Spearfish, and we'd love for you to be part of it. It all begins with one unforgettable day in the woods.

August 29 @ Spearfish city campground at the ice skating rink - please park cars at city park

Event Highlights:

12:30 PM – Arrive, check in, and pick up a Creature Passport for kids and families.

1:15 PM – Community welcome and ceremonial ribbon cutting.

1:45–4:00 PM – Guided beginner gravity rides, bike shop demos, and the Kids' Creature Zone with hands-on activities.

4:00–6:00 PM – Strava Community Challenge on the new green loop! Runners take the course first, followed by riders.

6:00 PM – Gather for food trucks, live acoustic music, s'mores, and our Creature Forest installation. We'll also recognize Strava Challenge participants with fun awards celebrating creativity, spirit, family participation, and more.

7:30 PM – Light Up the Woods! Experience illuminated trails by lantern, glow, and bike lights for a magical evening ride.

8:30 PM – Campfire Closing Circle with reflections, community stories, and opportunities to stay involved with future rides and trail stewardship.
